Honors and Awards
Dr. Abessi has achieved several honors and awards during the course of his education. During his undergraduate years, he was elected into Phi Beta Kappa (Chapter: Gamma of Pennsylvania) and Sigma Xi. While in Albany Medical College, he was inducted into the prestigious society of Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA, Theta Chapter). In addition, he was awarded the Stanley M. Ball, M.D. Award for Excellence in Neuroscience, the Federick H. Hesser Prize in Neurology, and the Ophthalmology Achievement Award. During his ophthalmology residency, his exceptional hard work and leadership lead him to the position of chief resident and was awarded the reputable Dr. Cetner Eye Resident Award. Lastly, he was awarded the Robert Reineke Research Award for his proficiency in research.
