Cornea Care
What is the cornea?
The cornea is the transparent front of the eye that refracts light and provides some of the optical power for you to see. The cornea has 5 layers (from outer to inner):
Epithelium - the surface “skin” layer that has regenerative cells, and is coated by your tears
Bowman’s layer
Stroma - thick, transparent middle layer
Descemet’s membrane
Endothelium - thin layer of cells that function to pump fluid out of the cornea
Common Cornea Problems

Salzmann’s nodular degeneration
Exposure keratopathy
Neurotrophic keratopathy
MIDDLE (Stroma)
